It's the end of an era in Shanballymore with the closure of its post office.

Retiring postmistress, Patsy Walsh, pulled the blinds and shut the door for the last time on Wednesday evening, August 8.

While Patsy didn't make a fuss about her retirement from the postal service, family, neighbours and friends were keen to mark the occasion and during her final day, there was a steady stream of well-wishers.

"People were calling in all day, they were very kind and wished me well for the future, it was very much appreciated" Patsy said.
