Hannah Browne celebrated her 100th birthday last Tuesday at her home in Watergrasshill and she is delighted with all the cards and birthday wishes she received to mark the once in a lifetime occasion.
She was especially delighted to receive a letter and a cheque for €2540 from the President of Ireland himself, Mr Michael D. Higgins.
Having lived through 100 years of life so far, Hannah, whose maiden name was Lane, has more stories to tell than could be possible encapsulated in just one article.
However, even a brief overview of her life’s journey give us an inkling of the kind of woman Hannah is.
She was born on the Jan 22nd 1918 in the village of Kilmorna near Listowel in Co.Kerry.
