Following on from their work to improve the appearance of the ‘59 Club’ on Lower Patrick Street last year, Fermoy Tidy Towns have turned their attention to the vacant site of Barry’s Timber Yard on Courthouse Road in Fermoy.
Through Cork County Council’s Town Painting Scheme, Fermoy Tidy Towns group have organised the painting of the road-facing wall and they have plans to improve the appearance with flowerpots and other shrubbery.
Meanwhile, the group raised €625 through a coffee morning in The Wagon Tavern last Saturday, held as part of the ongoing Fermoy Festival in the town.
Cllr Noel McCarthy, the group’s chairperson, said there was a great turnout at the event and he thanked everyone who sponsored prizes for the raffle.
The funds will go towards the various projects the group oversees in Fermoy.
