Better Life Cycle is an annual cycle event in aid of St Joseph’s Foundation Charleville. The best way to describe what St Joseph’s do is in their mission statement: “Providing people with disabilities the opportunity to live the life of their choice to their fullest potential”.
To date Better Life Cycle has raised €220,000 directly for St Joseph’s Foundation. First established in 2013, Better Life Cycle held its inaugural event in June 2014 ‘Malin to Mizen’, which saw 115 cyclists taking on the 4-day challenge cycling from one end of the country to the other.
In 2015 they had the ‘Bay to Bay challenge’ with cyclists cycling across the country in one day from Dublin Bay to Galway Bay.
This year, 2016 they went with the ‘Point to Point Challenge’. This saw cyclists take on a tour of west county Clare, starting and finishing on the Atlantic coast at Spanish Point. Sticking with the challenge, on Friday night last Better Life Cycle launched its 2017 event the ‘Wild West Challenge.
This will take place from Clifden, Co Galway on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017. Cyclists will travel some of the most scenic roads in the country with both 90km and 170km routes available to cyclists.
To participate cyclists simply need to raise a minimum of €150, with the full amount of sponsorship going to St Joseph’s Foundation. A truly worthy cause.
