They drink together, socialise together and from time to time, they have the odd punt together – this can take the form of a few quid on the nags or dogs, trying their hand at the Euromillions or having a go at local lottos.
The individuals concerned represent a Clancy’s Bar, Fermoy syndicate and there was no happier group of fellas when the news was relayed to them that their numbers (01, 07, 13 & 17) had helped them scoop €14,800 in the Fermoy GAA/Fermoy Pitch & Putt Club lotto.
Led by their leader and main gambling strategist, successful business man, Mr Michael Moorehouse, the group made the short journey from Barrack Hill to Fermoy GAA/Fermoy Pitch & Putt Club house last week to collect their winnings.
Needless to say, the mood was good and the banter lively as the chairman of Fermoy GAA, Brendan Keane, presented the substantial cheque to proprietor of Clancy’s Bar, Eamon Clancy and his syndicate brother, Seamus. Unable to attend but very much in the thoughts of their fellow syndicate members were: Bernadette Clancy, Tom McCarthy Snr and Stephen McCarthy.
Currently experiencing a good run, the syndicate have one or two projects on the boil at the moment and hopes are high that more good fortune isn’t far away.
