Great to have the good weather for continued ground works being carried out around the community centre. Work is making great progress. Thanks to everyone for their continued patience and understanding with hall parking etc., and thankfully within a few weeks the tarmacadam will be in place.

There are many events planned for the coming weeks and further information will appear in The Avondhu in the coming weeks.

On Sunday, October 23, Declan Roche is running a fund raising event to help with our tarmacadam. Starting at 2pm there will be social dancing. From 3pm to 5.30pm an amazing Tango Workshop featuring the champions of tomorrow Pro-am championship, so get out those dancing shoes and come along to a lovely Sunday evenings entertainment and fun. Lovely refreshments served on the day.

Kilbehenny Halloween Festival starts Friday 28 at 8pm with Halloween stories continued. Very intriguing and interesting guest speakers on the night, plus lots of interaction with question and answers section between guests and the audience, featuring a Yogi/Shaman, a spiritual house clearing specialist, psychics and much more.

On Saturday 29 the children can enjoy a theatre Halloween show , including a Fancy dress Halloween disco with treats. On Sunday 30 there is a fancy dress Halloween party in The Three Counties with DJ James – this is one not to be missed, funds from this event will be going to Blood Bikes.

Sunday, November 13 (after Mass) we have a toy sale in the Hall.

Sunday, December 4, Christmas Xtravaganza and Open Market with Santa visit.

Busy few weeks ahead, it’s great to welcome in the winter months with lots of activity.

Loughananna residents are very busy these weeks – not a lot of sleep to be had – as the community would like to congratulate residents Maura and Jamie Collins on the birth of Luke and Dylan – congrats also to Eileen and Paul Maher on the birth of Conor (and we have a very proud Gran of Conor (young gran may I add) Mary Casey in our hall committee) – also great excitement in the O’Malley household as Myles and Breda became grandparents to twins also – welcome to all babies and may they all have happy healthy cherished lives ahead.

Our sympathies this week go to the Geary Family on the passing of Pat Geary (RIP).

The community centre continues to be a hive of activity and everyone will have noticed the village is really looking well, with major works done by Coshlea Ltd, around the Bridge area, strimming, weeding etc., it’s a pity the major village projects carried out this year were outside of The Tidy Village Judging date – as Murphy’s Site, Fitzgerald’s Corner etc., would have definitely upped our marks, but at the same time we were very happy with the result this year.

Kilbehenny always is known for its community spirit and its lovely to see how well looked after our little village is, with many helping hands.
