Youths getting ready for the big day in Fermoy

The biggest day in Castlebridge Celtic’s short history will arrive on Saturday, April 20th when Castlebar Celtic arrive in Fermoy to meet our very own U18 team to decide who will play in the National Youth Umbro Challenge Cup final for 2013. The venue is Carrig Park, Fermoy and although is disappointing to not have the game played in our home grounds in Bridesbridge we are sure it will feel very much like a home game in Fermoy for the lads and we hope that a huge home support will be there on the day to push them on to greater glory.

Paul McNulty and Martin Duggan have been working hard over the past couple of weeks to try and get the lads in the best shape possible for this game and we all are looking forward to a great day out and hopefully with a bit of luck - you never know!!

The club would like to acknowledge all the help from local businesses and the community in supporting this team on the journey so far.

We would also ask that everyone who can, please make it to Carrig Park on Saturday to urge on the lads for one more game.

JUNIORS TAKE THE HONOURS IN FINAL LEAGUE GAME

Castlebridge 4 Mogeely 3

In the final league game of the season Castlebridge put in a great performance when they reversed a couple of earlier results with a well deserved win over Mogeely. Although missing a number of players, ,the lads were determined to give champions elect Mogeely a run for their money and they did it in style with some fantastic goals from Johnny O’Sullivan, Kieran Higgins, JJ Murphy and Jeremy, which caught the visitors completely by surprise.

Joe and Jim have been working hard in training with this squad and a lot of credit goes to the way they have got this team back on track after an early season dip in form and a couple of poor results. Based on this result, you would have wished that it could have been the title decider but this is a young team and going into the Premier division next season should help improve the standard further. With a few more players looking to come in there will definitely be a lot to look forward to.

Well done to Joe Hartnett and Jim McMurtry for all the hard work and effort this season to get Castlebridge back into the premier division.

U12s ARE LEAGUE CHAMPIONS – U11s LOSE OUT IN CUP FINAL – U14s IN CUP FINAL

Congratulations to our U12s who were crowned league champions over the Easter holidays with a fine 5-1 win in the final over Clashmore Ramblers. The lads were superb on the day and goals from Temi Olujosi, James Kearney and Jack Kenny helped make it a big occasion in Lismore.

Well done to Dermot, Oisin, Noel and all the parents who helped out with this team all season. They have improved with every game and now they can look forward to a cup final, also which will be played next Sunday in Tallow against Lismore.

Our U11s also pulled off a great result when they toppled favourites Clashmore in the semi-final, also over the Easter holidays and then faced Lismore in the final last Sunday. But were unfortunately outplayed by a very strong team on the day. Still this team will be building again next season.

Thanks to Oisin and Mike for all the hard work this year with the Under 11s and enjoy the long summer break!
