The IDEAS: Integrated Drama Education and Arts Society featuring students from the St Joseph’s Foundation, Charleville, are hosting a youth arts film festival at Friars' Gate, Kilmallock on Wednesday next, 11th December at 8pm that will provide an opportunity for young film makers in the county to showcase their work.

The IDEAS group will also be showing the premiere of their own film, 'Becoming Butterflies', the story of Ritchie and how a conflict between his love of dance and his love of his family become resolved through the support of his friends. The 'Becoming Butterflies' film is part of a long term project funded by the Youth in Action programme that was created by the IDEAS group to allow them to explore issues concerning youth with disability and has seen them work with a choreographer and film maker.

The IDEAS group are delighted that so many young people wish to take part in their festival, as Fiona Colton who plays Jane in the film explains: "It's really important. Everyone should have the opportunity to do the things they're able for. If they don't that is wrong because it makes people uncomfortable. This project is about everybody with different disabilities, that they can do anything." Tickets €10/€5.

'Blackguarded: Our Vagina Dialogues'

On Thursday, 12th December, The Limerick Women Warriors present 'Blackguarded: Our Vagina Dialogues'. This sensitive and moving performance, inspired by Eve Ensler’s 'Vagina Monologues', pulls the curtain back on women’s issues and lets the light in. These are the stories of every woman. This show challenges stereotypes and tells secrets. It is a unique interpretation of growing up female in Ireland. Tickets €6.
