Students attended from linked DEIS schools in Cork city and county, this week attended an exciting inter-institutional summer camp for 1st year students entitled ‘Xperience Camp’.

Encouraging young people to stay motivated with their education and to explore options beyond secondary school, the camp is a collaboration between UCC PLUS+ and CIT’s Access Service.

The first of this two-day camp was held in UCC on Wednesday, 5th June, where students were treated to exciting workshops introducing them to Chinese language and culture as well as computer programming.

Science elements show “Chemistry is Cool”, while Microbiology can be “Tiny but Mighty”, with students finishing their day with a sports session in the fabulous Mardyke Arena.

CIT hosted the final day of the camp on Thursday, 6th June at their Bishopstown campus, with students participating in drama and art workshops, Coder Dojo, and Science for Life, followed by Yoga and GAA activities. The camp will close with an informal certificate ceremony.

The Xperience Camp is a great opportunity for prospective students to see what both CIT and UCC have to offer in the future.
