Works began earlier this week on the partially collapsed building at 49 Upper Cork Street in Mitchelstown, in news that was greeted enthusiastically by members of the public.

However, the question of whether the building is going back up, or coming down, has not yet been answered by the council.

The council have advised that for a period of four months, two car parking spaces will be occupied by a contractors depot. The contractor, Cumnor, are accessing the site and some hording on the north side of the barrier has been removed to provide access.
