Finishing where he started – in Mitchelstown
The management and patrons of two well known public houses recently came together to organise a two-legged pool tournament to support Mitchelstown Youth Café. There was nothing to separate the pool teams representing Willie Andie’s and O’Farrell’s after two nights of intense pool that saw both teams share the spoils with a drawn competition.
However the purpose behind this event had nothing to do with winning this tournament and was just a means of supporting Mitchelstown Youth Café and the work that it does with the youth of the town and surrounding areas. This altruistic aim was certainly achieved as this competition raised a grand total of €560 for Mitchelstown Youth Café, which is greatly appreciated by all involved in this voluntary operated youth service.
A special word of thanks goes to the organisers, players and supporters for their generous donation. The Willie Andies team was managed by Lar Roche and consisted of Liam Roche, David Masterson, Mickey Dawson, Robbie Farrissey, Donie Quirke, Tom Collins, Jim Sheehan, Billy Pigott, Mickey Darcy, Denis Linehan and Adrian Walsh.
The O’Farrell’s team comprised Wes Turner, Brendan Lambert, Michael O'Donnell, Mark McGrath, Teresa Carey, Frankie Murphy, Alan Murphy, Bobby Hyland, Tom Condon, Jeremiah O'Donovan and Niall O'Keeffe.
