David Heffernan from Boherbue has Fermoy connections

David Heffernan, who has Fermoy connections, was conferred recently with his PhD (History) in UCC.

David Heffernan was conferred recently with his PhD (History) in UCC. David is the son of Joe (formerly Cork Rd., Fermoy) and Mary Heffernan, Boherbue, Mallow.

After his 1st year in UCC he was given the honour of the title, ‘College Scholar’. On receiving his primary degree of Bachelor of Arts, David won the prestigious Joseph McEnery Memorial Scholarship. His doctoral thesis was entitled, “Tudor 'Reform' Treatises and Government Policy in Sixteenth Century Ireland’.

This was a study of several hundred memoranda and policy papers written on the political state of Ireland in the sixteenth century and how to incorporate the country into the wider English state.
