On Saturday morning we departed from the Sports Complex, Kilworth for the Cunnigar Pitch and Putt Course by the sea in Dungarvan. We hoped by the time we reached the course the weather would have improved! No such luck. It was our third outing to this course and for two out of three it was raining.

When we arrived, we had some refreshments thanks to the local ladies. We all donned our wet gear before heading out for a fourball. It is a challenging course, some long shots and testing bunkers, before you encounter a water obstacle at hole number 18.

The winners of the fourball were 1st nett John Hogan and Sheila Hegarty on a score of 421/2. Kevin Doyle and Michael O'Meara were gross winners (on the back 9) on a score of 56. John C McCarthy and Eileen Leonard were 2nd nett winners on a score of 44.

The fourball done and dusted we had more refreshments before returning to the course for a threeball scramble. The sensible ones amongst us decided to stay in the Clubhouse for a game of cards. The winners of the threeball scramble were 1st nett. Kevin Doyle, Catherine Morrissey, Nell Coughlan on a score of 38 1/3. Barry Doyle, Sheila Hegarty, John C McCarthy were gross winners on a score of 49. Michael O'Keeffe, Pat Houlihan, Tom Shanahan were 2nd nett winners on a score of 39 2/3.

Threeball over, it was time for a change of clothes from top to bottom before heading to the Gold Coast Hotel where we were treated to a lovely meal by the management and staff. After the meal the presentation of prizes took place, it was then time to make our return journey to Kilworth.

We would like to thank all who came on the outing and helped to make the day a success. A special word of thanks to our sponsors, D&M Fruit and Veg Shop, Fermoy, The Hunters Rest, Mitchelstown and Amber Garage, Fermoy.
