Another party for Watergrasshill man, John Murphy who is now 100 years plus. The most recent celebration to mark John's century was in Watergrasshill Community Centre and hosted by local members of The Wednesday Club - an informal social gathering for senior citizens residing in the Watergrasshill catchment.

GOOD HEALTH

John was his usual relaxed self as he accepted birthday wishes and messages of goodwill from his many Wednesday Club friends. Those present were treated to some tasty refreshments and with everyone sitting comfortably, a very attractive birthday cake was produced. John, together with assistance from his daughter, Chris and great granddaughter, Minerva, extinguished the solitary candle to mark this proud milestone. Mission accomplished, John tucked into his generous slice and didn't leave much behind!

Wednesday Club volunteers, Anne O'Regan, Sheila Magliozzi and Phil O'Reilly said they were delighted to help organise the party for a person they described as 'a real gentleman'. Parish priest, Fr. Donal Cotter also had kind words to say about John, who he said had been blessed with wonderful health for 10 decades.

The large gathering was really well looked after and music and singing was supplied by Dan O'Reilly, Tim Manley and Christy Cahill.
