Waterford musicians won big at this year’s Fleadh Cheoil, with local musicians claiming several titles including being named the All-Ireland Senior Céilí Band Champions 2022.
It was an exciting and successful week of competitions, concerts, céilithe, sessions and more at the 70th Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann which took place in Mullingar.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Tom Hyland, chairman of the Ballyduff Ballinvella Ballysaggart Comhaltas said that Waterford ‘made history’ at this year’s Fleadh Cheoil.
“Going back five or six years, it’s very rare to have an All-Ireland medal, so this is history-making. There were more medals won this year than in any past year.
