Husband and wife, Sandy and Maggie Blackley, have made a massive contribution to community life in Fermoy over several decades. While not an easy decision, they’ve decided to sell their ancestral home in Gurrane, Fermoy and move permanently to county Wicklow. Their departure will be keenly felt by neighbours and an extensive circle of friends.

At last Sunday’s Harvest Thanksgiving Service in Christ Church, Fermoy, the couple were recognised for their lifelong commitment to the Church of Ireland, their Christian faith and charitable works.

Addressing the congregation, Heather Fleming spoke of Maggie’s contribution to Sunday School, her role as proofreader of the church newsletter and the very important work she did assisting the people of Malawi. Maggie also helped host the Adair Primary School sports day and was to the forefront in assisting with events in Christ Church and Adair Hall.
Robin Smith spoke about Sandy’s finanical expertise and font of local knowledge.
