Joe Mullins, Brendan Hoare and Niall O'Mahony, pictured after completing the Tour of Connemara, will undergo a virtual cycle of 100k on Zwift next Sunday, starting at 9am to raise funds for the Spillane family, Kilbehenny.

Unfortunately due to the current circumstances and with the Government and Cycling Ireland’s guidance, Kilbehenny Cycling Club’s annual sportive this year is postponed, a later date is to be announced when we’re certain it can go ahead. We all hope you are all keeping safe and well.

So as an alternative some of our club members, mainly Joe Mullins, Brendan Hoare and Niall O’Mahony will undergo a virtual cycle of 100k on Zwift on Sunday, June 14, starting at 9am to raise funds for the Spillane family, Kilbehenny.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help them at this stressful time where Jer has been diagnosed with a serious illness.

Links to the fund are on the lads’ profile page and on the Kilbehenny Cycling Club Facebook page.

People are encouraged to support as much as they can, every little helps – anyone wishing to join them can click on the link to register their interest on the page. The three lads are avid cyclists.

One of the photos is of a previous sportive in 2014, hopefully we will have great occasions like this again.

When we have a date for our sportive it will be announced here in The Avondhu. Thanks, as always, to The Avondhu for their coverage.
