Kilworth Celtic remains a good news story as this progressive soccer club continues to expand its membership and develop their extensive grounds.

It all requires a huge effort from club volunteers and in this regard members of the top table lead the way.

Finance is critical to any voluntary organisation and it’s a challenge to secure the necessary cash to keep a club going. Kilworth Celtic is fortunate to have a number of loyal and trusted sponsors and added to this list is Specsavers in Mallow.

On Thursday last, club chairman Gus Shanahan, had the pleasant task of travelling to Mallow to accept a cheque for €700.

According to Gus, this money will go towards the purchase of ball stop netting. In addition, a Specsavers sign and logo will be erected in the environs of the club grounds.

Gus went on thank Iain and Ciara MacCallum for their generous sponsorship. The individual who liaised between Specsavers and Kilworth Celtic was Dan Noonan and the club are very grateful for Dan’s considerable input.

With regard to the Kilworth-based club with big plans for the future, it’s a case of, ‘a lot done, more to do’.

Thanks to the energy of its leaders and the goodwill it continues to attact, a great deal more will be done in the very near future.
