Truly Irish, the company set up by a group of pig farmers who were dissatisfied with the quality of pork on the supermarket shelves and the high levels of imports that were packaged as Irish, is one of five companies in Munster to have been shortlisted for the Bank of Ireland promoted ‘Sponsor for a Day’ competition. Truly Irish now boasts a group of 85 pig farmer shareholders who are based all over Ireland.

The competition offers businesses throughout Ireland the opportunity to sponsor the Munster rugby team for a day, by winning the right to have their company logo displayed on the players’ jerseys, during a high profile European Rugby Champions Cup match in front of a large live and TV audience.  The competition is valued at €50,000, with one lucky winner from Munster.

The five shortlisted companies competing to sponsor the Munster Rugby team are Glenmar Shellfish Ltd (Skibreen Cork) , Irish Yogurts (Clonakility Cork), Pinnacle Ltd (Nenagh Tipperary), The Little Milk Company (Dungarvan, Waterford), and Truly Irish Country Foods (Limerick).

Commenting on the competition, Mark Cunningham, Director of Business Banking at Bank of Ireland said “The competition is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to increase their brand awareness by sponsoring such high profile team like Munster for European Rugby Champions Cup match."

The competition is now open to a public to vote on www.independent.ie/sponsorforaday for the companies that will sponsor the Munster team. Voting will close on 15 December and the winners of the Munster  prize will be announced on 17 December. Participants and voters can also follow the campaign on Twitter  #sponsorforaday.
