Tributes have been paid to a ‘wonderful’ and ‘exceptional’ lady who was killed in a tragic late-evening road accident on Monday.
The victim, named locally as Mary Toomey, was killed instantly after she was hit by a car while out walking with her young niece on the Mitchelstown to Cahir road at Kilcoran, Co Tipperary just after 8pm.
The child was not injured although it is understood that she was badly shocked. The driver of the car – a man in his late 20s, was also uninjured.
Mrs Toomey was well known in the area and worked as a medical secretary at the Convent Road Medical Practice in Cahir.
