A HGV overturned on the M8 near Fermoy this afternoon, seeing all northbound traffic diverted through the town.
The truck overturned between Junction 13 and 15 during the throes of Storm Barra, with the county one of several on a Red Weather Warning. According to Gardaí, emergency services are attending the scene.
“Gardaí are attending the scene of a road traffic incident where a HGV has overturned on the M8 near Fermoy, between Junction 13 and 15.
“No serious injuries were reported. All northbound traffic is to divert through the town of Fermoy,” the spokesperson said.
It is understood that the M8 is closed in both directions on the bridge due to the incident.
“Winds are currently making driving conditions hazardous, especially for more vulnerable road users such as high sided vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists,” the spokesperson added.
