Castlelyons’ star player Colm Spillane, has this week announced his retirement from inter-county hurling.

The 28-year-old defender confirmed that he would not be in the line-up for the 2022 Cork panel, stating that “the injuries have really piled up”.

Reflecting on Colm’s time with Cork, Kieran McGann of Castlelyons GAA recalled that Colm had gotten involved with the sport at a young age along with his brothers, Michael and Anthony.

“He grew up playing with Castlelyons. His dad, Mick, was a great hurler and footballer and won the senior football championship with Imokilly and won several championships with Castlelyons,” Mr McGann said.
