Traffic calming measures for the Clonmel Road in Mitchelstown are to go into the planning process next year with a view to being done in 2015.

This was raised by Cllr Frank O’Flynn at the Fermoy area meeting, where he called for traffic calming measures out as far as the bridge for the safety of residents, pedestrians and motorists.

He added that Dairygold have just completed construction work with a new footpath and 48 new carp arking spaces for employees.

However, this has been criticised, as people working in the town who ordinarily park on the Clonmel Road have told The Avondhu that parking there is severely restricted, as there are now just five spaces there due to the increased footpath size.
