On this Saturday, 27th July, Chameleon Toy Theatre visit Friars’ Gate with two wonderful productions for children ages 3–10. Using a child-scale mini theatre, complete with its own tiny golden box office, actor-storytellers will invite children to create the show with them using dance, lights, props and puppets in a highly intimate and imaginative adventure.

Tickets €6, numbers limited. Treasure Island will run at 3pm – join us as we tell the tale of Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins our hero, along with pitiless pirates, prattling parrots, tremendous treasure, dirty deeds, charts, castaways, sharks and skeletons!

At 4.30pm we have The Warrior, the story of the fastest carrier pigeon in Europe, maybe even in the world. But he’s got to make it back to Cork from Rome in under a day, flying in the teeth of a hurricane back to the waiting arms of young Kathy! Tickets €6.

Songs of the Clancy Family

On Friday, 9th August at 8pm, Dónal Clancy, son of Liam Clancy, presents 'Songs of the Clancy Family'. Donal will be joined by special guest uileann piper, David Power. Dónal spent his early childhood in Canada and the US before his family settled back in An Rinn, Co Waterford. He grew up in a household and community steeped in music and began touring professionally with his father, Liam Clancy and cousin, Robbie O'Connell in 1996. He later moved to New York and worked mainly as a guitarist, touring the world with such acts Eileen Ivers and The Chieftains as well as releasing a critically acclaimed solo guitar album. Donal returned to Ireland permanently in 2009 and as well as his work with the group Danú, he continues in the Clancy tradition with his solo performances.

Tickets €15 and to book, go to www.friarsgate.ie or call 063-98727.
