Another big crowd, another night of dancing and yet another successful fundraising event in The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown on Saturday night last. On this occasion the organisations to benefit were St. Joseph's Foundation, Charleville and Cork Mental Health Foundation. Locals like John Keating put in a big effort in advance of Saturday night and those who helped him promote this event can feel well pleased with the end result.

TAKING TO THE FLOOR

With dancing being the name of the game, securing the professional services of accomplished performers: Finbarr Dennehy, Michael Collins, Trudi Lalor and P.J. Murrihy, certainly helped and the predominantly middle aged crowd didn't spare the shoe leather for a show that kicked off at 8pm and continued well beyond midnight. Tickets were €20 each, which wasn't unreasonable and the raffle prizes were of the very attractive variety.

Referring back to the charities involved, both are high profile and do excellent work in their own right. With state funding dwindling at an alarming rate, events such as last Saturday night are becoming more and more important. Well done to all concerned.
