The Tesla Supercharger network continues to grow across the UK and Ireland. It is now eight years since the first Superchargers were installed in London at the Royal Victoria Docks in 2014, but Supercharging remains the most convenient and reliable charging solution available in the UK and Ireland.
Auto Express crowned Tesla as the best electric car chargepoint provider in 2022, winning categories including charging costs, speed, reliability and ease of use. Although most electric vehicle owners recharge at home or at work whilst the car is parked, the Supercharger network enables convenient, long distance travel.
Over 1,000 ways to Supercharge across the UK and Ireland
Superchargers are placed on major roads on all well-travelled routes across the UK and Ireland. From Aviemore in the heart of the Scottish Highlands to the Eurotunnel Terminal at Folkstone and the gateway into Europe, the Tesla Supercharger network encourages owners to explore.
Today there are 1000 Tesla Supercharger posts spread across 100+ locations. This year alone, Tesla opened 177 new Supercharger stalls and 17 new locations in the UK and Ireland, including Dublin and Edinburgh.
The 1,000th stall is situated in the newly opened London Sidcup Supercharger location at Ruxley Manor with 15 stalls in total. The site can be easily accessed from the A20 and offers amenities, such as a restaurant, café, grocery store, garden centre, hand car wash and toilet facilities.
1,000 stalls and counting
The ongoing expansion of the Supercharger network will ensure that drivers are able to quickly, seamlessly and reliably charge their vehicles. Further V3 Superchargers will be added at future locations, these add up to 75 miles of charge in five minutes and charge at rates of up to 1,000 miles per hour.
Future plans show Superchargers continuing to expand, allowing owners to travel even further with the freedom of Supercharging. See Tesla’s Supercharger map and Go Anywhere Trip Planner to explore where your next trip could take you.
Non-Tesla Supercharger Pilot
Launched in November 2021, our Non-Tesla Supercharger pilot is expanding to new sites and countries in support of our mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. In May, 15 selected stations and 158 individual Superchargers are part of the pilot in the UK, making it the biggest fast-charging network of the country.
It’s always been our ambition to open the Supercharger network to Non-Tesla EVs, and by doing so, encourage more drivers to go electric. Access to an extensive, convenient and reliable fast-charging network is critical for large-scale EV adoption. That’s why, since opening our first Superchargers in 2012, we have been committed to rapid expansion of the network.
Additional information about the pilot can be found on our Non-Tesla Supercharger Pilot Support page via this link.
