After 13 years on Lower Cork Street, Ian Malcolm of The Mouse Pad has made the difficult decision to close down the shop and move in a different direction.
Due to an increase in demand for a mobile repair service and personal service away from the shop, Mr Malcolm said that he will now be continuing to provide the same range of services, but from his home instead.
He said that even though he will not be on the main street as of February 28, when he will close the door for the last time, he has plans to allow the business to continue to grow.
He thanked all of his customers over the years, saying that he hopes they will continue to support him, as The Mouse Pad embarks on this new chapter.
Mr Malcolm emphasised that he will be working from his home in Mitchelstown, and will continue to do repairs, as well as stationary and equipment supply and secretarial services.
He also plans to do one-to-one computer lessons and he said that this new direction for the business will allow him to be much more flexible, have more of a personal touch.
He will also be more mobile and he hopes that this will in time open up opportunties in the hinterlands of Mitchelstown and into other areas of Munster.
“I hope that people will continue to support the business and they should think of it as a change in direction and relocation, instead of closing down.
“I can be contacted anytime through The Mouse Pad Facebook page, by email on themousepad@eircom.net or by phone on 086-2420411.”
