Temporary repairs to the fish ladder in the Blackwater river at the bridge in Fermoy have been successfully completed.

The contractor was under pressure of time as the repairs had to be done by the end of September to prevent interference with salmon travelling upriver to spawn. Good weather helped contractor Michael O’Doherty (Fermoy) Ltd., to complete the works within two weeks.

The works were concentrated on the south wall at the base of the fish pass and the work was done entirely from within the river to eliminate traffic disruption in and around the bridge.
