A telecommunications mast owned by Three Ireland which is sitting just 5 metres from the home of a resident in the Glen Dara estate, Bishop’s Island, Watergrasshill was given permission for retention of the structure by Cork County Council just a few short months ago.
A number of residents who had submitted objections to the application when it was with the local authority have appealed the decision and the application is now with An Bord Pleanala with the deadline for observations or submissions looming on September 25.
Many residents living in the vicinity of the mast have been trying to years to have the mast, which is 30 metres high and has been in situ for over 20 years, removed on a number of grounds including visual impact, noise and health concerns due to radiation levels.
