It’s time once again for the youth drama section of the Anglesboro Drama Group to take to the stage. This year they take on Nell Leyshon’s ‘The Beauty Manifesto’. Directed by John McGrath and Ilsa Slattery, the play is based in the not too distant future, where everyone lives under the rules of the beauty manifesto. When a teenager turns 16, they are obliged to receive cosmetic surgery to be as beautiful as possible. In this play we meet a group of teenagers on their 16th birthday. Some are happy and excited to have the surgery, others are not so pleased. Will they go through with the surgery or rebel against the company?

Preceding the teenage show will be a performance of ‘Annie’ by the children from 3rd to 6th class in Anglesboro National School under the direction of Mary Cooney and Margaret Ann McGrath.

The show takes place on Jan 3rd and 4th in the community hall, Anglesboro and starts at 8.30pm sharp. Adults: €7 and children €3. For further details contact Dan McCarthy on 087 688 3534

CONGRATULATIONS

Huge congratulations from the drama group goes to Susan Moloney, who last weekend received a Tesco/Garda youth award in The Firgrove Hotel. On the night she claimed first prize in her age category. Susan received her award in recognition for her community work in Anglesboro. She has done stellar work in the drama group both on stage and off over the past few years and nobody deserves it more. Well done Susan!
