Taoiseach encourages non-profit groups in Cork to apply for Coca Cola Thank You Fund

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD urged non-profit organisations in Cork to apply for funding from the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund. With €125,000 in grant money available, this will be divided into one main grant of €25,000 for the overall winner, and ten other grants of €10,000 each. The closing date for applications has been extended until July 31.

The fund supports projects that take an innovative approach to encouraging communities to lead more balanced, healthy and active lifestyles. Sports clubs, community groups and other non-profit organisations located all over the island of Ireland are eligible to apply. A previous recipient of grants from the fund include Ballyduff Football Club in county Waterford.

The Taoiseach commented, “I would encourage sports clubs, dance groups and other local projects involved in healthy, active pursuits to apply to the Coca-Cola Thank You Fund.” The Taoiseach commended Coca-Cola who will have donated a total of €375,000 to local communities by the end of the year.

Sarah O’Connor, Chief Executive, The Federation for Irish Sport, said. “The Fund gives (volunteers) license to be creative, and to come up with ideas for projects that will attract new people to sports and other energy-intensive activities ranging from acting to gardening”.

Ms O’Connor urged organisations to take the opportunity to organise truly original projects in an effort to take full advantage of the funding and to entice a wide variety of people to live healthy and active lives. Apply online at www.coca-cola.ie/thankyou before July 31st.
