KEENAN FAMILY VISIT

T P Keenan's grand nephews were in Castletownroche for the T P Keenan songwriters contest reunion. They paid a visit to their grand uncle's grave in St Mary's Church grounds. They were delighted to be photographed beside the mural of one of his most famous songs 'The Old Rustic Bridge By The Mill'. This was painted by Joan Irwin this past summer for the Tidy Towns Committee. Castletownroche people believe this song was written about their village and have adopted it as their very own anthem.
