Success on World stage for Fermoy Karate Club

The victorious IJKA Ireland team,  Shihan Brian Toomey, Senseis Shane Hurley and Alison Hennessy at the SKDUN World Karate Championships in the Czech Republic.

Fermoy Karate Club were on the world stage again last weekend. Shihan Brian Toomey and Sensei Shane Hurley both won medals at the SKDUN World Karate Championships which were held in The Czech Republic. 

Brian took the bronze medal in the over 60s Kata, while Shane also brought home a bronze medal in The Masters – a discipline where one competitor from each participating country competes in both Kata and Kumite.

Sensei Alison Hennessy, despite putting up a tremendous performance particularly in her kumite event, narrowly missed out on a podium spot.
