Bob Dalton is the new leader of Mitchelstown’s fire fighters, but beyond his role as station officer he is a testament to the professionalism of his life saving colleagues.
During a barn fire call out several years back he collapsed and if it wasn’t for the quick reactions of his colleagues he would not have survived a massive heart attack.
Bob took over from his friend Sean Walsh, as station officer in the James Street base. He is now the man who wears a white helmet and is the on-scene commander at crashes, fires and any number of emergencies.
But it was August 19, 2017 that he and his colleagues can never forget. Bob returned from a holiday the day before feeling tired. He had visited a doctor while on his break away who told him he had bad ear infections.
