A chemical, nauseating smell travelled up the sewerage pipes and into the homes of the residents of Stag Park, Mitchelstown last Monday night causing headaches and serious disturbance.
Cllr Deirdre O’Brien brought the situation to the attention of Cork County Council at the Northern Committee Meeting on Monday last explaining that the ‘glue’ smell was making children sick and ‘people couldn’t even sleep at night’.
When investigated, Cllr O’Brien was told that the chemical smell was from jetting (cleaning) which was carried out by a contractor to ensure that the smell of sewerage would be kept at bay as there is a historical problem with smells of sewerage in Stag Park.
