A local publican in Mitchelstown has spoken to The Avondhu about an incident whereby a young member of staff was ‘verbally assaulted’ by a customer in his bar last Saturday night.

Michael Carey, manager at The Ramble Inn in Mitchelstown, states that a regular customer was asked if he had ID on his person in case there was a garda inspection regarding reopening compliance.

The customer was not actually asked to produce the ID, as he was known to the staff.

The customer reacted angrily, and ‘stepped up’ to the young female member of staff, asking, “Who the *** do you think you are, asking me for identification in this place?”
