After two long years of lockdowns, Fermoy is to welcome back its annual St Patrick’s Day parade this year.

Planning for the 37th St Patrick’s Day parade in the town is well underway, according to secretary and PRO, Donal O Lochlainn who noted that reaction to the news locally has been ‘widely positive’.

“We had a meeting during the summer and we decided that if it was allowed, we would have a parade this year. The website went live at the weekend and so far, people have said it’s great that it’s going ahead,” Mr O Lochlainn said.

For the parade organisers, it’s a change of pace. While car parades were organised by locals and held during the pandemic, the last traditional St Patrick’s Day parade in the town was in 2019.
