St John's Boxing Club in Fermoy are bringing 'white collar' boxing to the town. According to event organiser Pa Flynn, the concept that has worked so well all over the country will be a big hit on the banks of the Blackwater. While there's still a lot of fine tuning to do, Pa is anxious to get the ball rolling by signing up volunteers.
"The incentive for those volunteering is that they stand to raise considerable funds for an organisation or charity of their choice. Full training will be given and all boxers will be well matched," Pa told The Avondhu this week.
The region's most recent exposure to white collar boxing was when Mitchelstown Rugby Club staged a spectacular show back in March. Inspired by this, St John's Boxing Club are confident that with the necessary planning and support, their 'white collar' night will provide them with much needed finance. Interested individuals are asked to contact Pa on 087-1675884.
