A sustained and successful fundraising campaign during 2016 ensured a major upgrade to Christmas lights in Mitchelstown – credit for which goes to Mitchelstown Business Association and Mitchelstown Lions Club who spearheaded the campaign.
A huge debt of gratitude to also due to the many individuals and businesses who helped raise the all important cash.
The public's response was equally impressive and on Saturday evening last, townspeople got a chance to view the magnificent new lights and wonderfully decorated Christmas tree.
A several hundred strong crowd assembled in New Square for the festive ceremony. MC for the occasion was Maurice Walsh, who as usual, did a brilliant job.
Local school children were out in force to perform a selection of Christmas favourites …
