A senior member of the SouthDoc after hours doctors service has 'categorically' denied that the service is closing in Fermoy. 

Dr Joanne Montgomery, director on the Southdoc Board, spoke to The Avondhu about the exact reasons for the ‘temporary’ closure of the service in Fermoy.   

The doctor, who is a GP in Cork city, said that the big issue is that the Covid-19 virus is going to adversely effect the service in the coming weeks as staff and doctors become sick.

“This is a temporary measure. We are trying to consolidate down the service to maintain the service. We did it this week because we wanted to give ourselves a good run at it before things get bad.
