HURLING VICTORY

Heartiest congratulations to Skeheenarinky U21 B hurlers who won the Tipperary South final on Sunday beating Clonmel Óg by a score of 3-16 to 2-12. Well done to all players and management!

CARDS

HOSPICE CARD GAME

The annual Hospice card hame will be held at the school on December 27 at 4.30pm. Inquiries to Seanie Crotty.

KILCORAN STAGS PRESENTATION

The Kilcoran Stags tug-o-war team recently presented €2,500 to the Heart Foundation of Ireland and €1,000 to the Cahir Lions Club Defibrillator maintenance fund. The money was raised at the Brendan Morrissey Memorial Cup tug-o-war event in Cahir recently.

BOOK LAUNCH REMINDER

‘Lonely Little God’s Acre’ – A History of Shanrahan Churchyard by Ed O’Riordan will be launched by Archaeologist Rose Cleary of UCC, at The Hermitage, Clogheen on Friday evening, December 14 at 7.45. All welcome to this local history publication launch. Reception and music. Publication supported by South Tipp Development Company, launch sponsored by The Hermitage.

COMMUNITY ALERT

79 households have registered for the Text Alert service, and Muintir na Tire has commended us on such a fine result. The program assists in keeping rural areas safer by allowing participants and the Gardaí to text each other about suspicious activity. Details are being worked out, and further information will follow. If you haven’t yet registered for the service, give your form and a once-off €20 fee to a committee member.

CONDOLENCES

Sympathy is offered to the family and friends of Catherine (Kit) Crotty of Coolagarranroe who passed away recently. Kit was predeceased by her husband John. May they both rest in peace.

CAROL SERVICE

Carol Service in Ballyporeen on Sunday evening next, December 16, at 7pm featuring the Ballyporeen Church Choir and the pupils from Skeheenarinky and Ballyporeen national schools along with local musicians. A lot of rehearsing has gone into making everything perfect for the service.

I.C.A. LAKE COMO TRIP

There are a few seats still available on the Coach Tour to Lake Como, a stunning Alpine lake in N. Italy and bordering Switzerland. This trip is from May 19-25, 2013 and is being organised by Ballyporeen ICA. Further information from Mary at 086-2034948.

FUNDRAINSING 45 CARD DRIVE

The Parents Association are holding a fundraising 45 drive card game on Saturday, December 22 at 8pm in the Olde Shanbally Bar, Burncourt. Donations for the raffle on the night would be appreciated and can be given to any member of the Parents’ Association.

SCHOOL NOTES

The children thoroughly enjoyed watching and taking part in the recent visit of the Red Kettle Theatre Production of the ‘Little Elf Princess who lost her Story’. Miss Connolly’s class will be attending the Christmas Show ‘A Hippo for Christmas’ next week.
