Demand for the services provided by Meals on Wheels, Fermoy, has grown considerably since the Covid-19 crisis took hold in Ireland.

Every week is a busy one now for the volunteers in the Fermoy Community Resource Centre, who are making sure that older and more vulnerable citizens are receiving their meals throughout the week.

Mary Flynn (co-ordinator), explained how the outreach service had seen a ‘significant rise in people using the service, particularly in the last two weeks’.

She noted two sources for the increase; new people signing up, along with existing clients who are no longer able to attend the day care service, and who now require additional meals to their homes.
