Concerns were raised this week regarding a number of cars dumped in the River Blackwater and the impact they may have on water quality.
The shocking discovery was made last week by Irish Examiner journalist Dan MacCarthy, who had been out on the Blackwater on his kayak for recreational purposes, near Dromana Bridge, outside Cappoquin.
Local councillor, John Pratt, from Tallow, subsequently raised the issue at this week’s meeting of the Dungarvan Lismore District.
He noted that five to six cars were dumped into the River Blackwater near the Dromana gate area in West Waterford.
