Cork East TD and Minister of State Seán Sherlock has been confirmed as the Labour candidate in the upcoming general election, taking the number of confirmed candidates in the constituency to an even 10.

The Mallow-native was elected at the Cork East Labour selection convention last week, and will be aiming to secure a third consecutive Dáil seat for the party. Former Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore chaired the meeting.

Speaking to The Avondhu, Minister Sherlock said he was ‘incredibly humbled and honoured’ to have been chosen to represent the Labour Party at the next election.
