Castletownroche girl, Shannon Murphy, is all set to rock in this Sunday night’s third live show of the Voice of Ireland competition on RTE 1 at the usual time of 6.30pm.

While Shannon is sworn to secrecy, The Avondhu can reveal that she’s set for an energetic performance this week of an AC/DC classic.

“There’s a few surprises in there alright!” was all she would reveal.

Each team will have two acts perform and compete against each other. The voting this week will again be a combination of viewer votes and coach votes. However, in a change to the format this week, the coaches can’t score their own acts, just the other team’s acts.

The coach scores will be added to the public votes and from those the four highest polling acts will go through to the next round.

Out of the four remaining acts with the least votes, the act with the most votes will go through to the next round so, in total, five acts will go through.

Shannon has been in rehearsals all week in Dublin for Sunday night’s performance. She’s delighted with the goodwill and support she’s been shown locally.

She’s had loads of messages wishing her well and people are coming up to her on the street too, wishing her good luck.

She extends a very special thank you to Fermoy Print and Design who provided “really great” posters for her, she says. Specsavers in Mallow have also provided sponsorship for which Shannon is very grateful.
