Over 100 residents attended a meeting at the Shanballymore Community Centre on Tuesday to raise their concerns, after a new Social Care Home for 12 to 18 year-olds was opened in the village.

Locals claim that it’s ‘totally wrong’ and unfair on the residents themselves and local people to have these centres operating in a village like Shanballymore.

Many residents displayed their anger at the fact that they simply weren’t told that the Care Home would be operating in the area. It is expected that at least four children would take up residence at the home with two full-time care staff in charge.
