The Fermoy woman who survived a brutal assault by sex offender Vadim Veste has spoken of her relief that Veste entered a guilty plea, saving her from the ordeal of having to testify during his trial.
On Monday Veste, 28, was sentenced to six years in prison for his November 2021 attack on a woman out walking her dog in St Colman’s Park.
In her victim impact statement presented to the court, the unnamed local woman, who is in her 50s, said she had been “dreading the court case,” and was relieved she didn’t have to relive her ordeal by giving evidence, due to Veste’s guilty plea.
She praised the actions of Gardaí in her victim impact statement.
