Scramblers ‘destroying’ Glensheskin Forest

One of the entrance barriers erected at Kilworth forest, to prevent unauthorised access.

The topic of scramblers and motorbikes in the Coillte owned forest in Kilworth was highlighted once again by a concerned local in a letter sent to The Avondhu.

According to Kilworth man Pat O’Sullivan, motorbikes and scramblers are entering the Coillte land most weekends, despite recent measures taken by Coillte to prevent access.

“Coillte erected signposts warning them to keep out but they ripped the sign warning away just days after being put on display. They will stop at nothing to gain entry,” Mr O’Sullivan wrote.

He went on to claim that the scramblers are also now gaining entry via the Mountain Barracks areas in Kilworth and have driven over ponds within the forest containing frogspawn.
