A schoolteacher from Colaiste an Chraobhin, Fermoy is going on the road to perform The Beatles Greatest Hits in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
Girish Paul, a singer/song-writer, and teacher at the secondary school, decided to tour in aid of the Irish Cancer Society after a hard working colleague was diagnosed with cancer.
Speaking ahead of the tour he said, “I’m thrilled to announce the Christmas tour of County Cork in support of the wonderful work that is being carried out by the Irish Cancer Society. After a lovely lady associated with the school contracted the disease, I decided to find a way to both raise awareness of the work carried out by the Irish Cancer Society and also raise funds along the way to aid their tireless ongoing cancer research effort. Thankfully, our colleague appears to be fine now, and as I’d planned a tour in 2018 to promote the release of my new album Journeyman, I decided to bring my plans forward and go on the road before Christmas instead.”
“As time passes, I constantly remind our young people that The Beatles changed the world. Much as Newton and Einstein are the two giants in the field of science, and Beethoven and Mozart have their place in the history as the giants of classical music, Lennon and McCartney’s body of work will continue to influence and inspire popular music for years to come with some of the greatest songs ever written.”
There will be collection buckets available on each night, and all contributions will be most welcome. Those who can’t make it to one of the gigs can make a donation via www.cancer.ie
