‘Santa doesn’t give houses’

When expectant mother of four Emma O’Driscoll, read her daughter’s Christmas list, she hadn’t planned on explaining why Santa couldn’t get her family a house, especially when it was the only thing her daughter had asked for. 

“I couldn’t answer that. I was trying to think of a way to explain it and I said ‘Santa doesn’t give houses’. It broke my heart in half,” Emma told The Avondhu.

Emma, who currently lives in a caravan parked inside the entrance to the former Fitzgerald Camp, is calling on the council to provide housing for her family who, she claims, are currently without a number of basic facilities such as a toilet and running water.
